The TechEL staff development and technology resources provides current research, effective instructional strategies, and relevant technology resources and materials in all core curriculum for busy classroom teachers.
This 3 day Trainer of Trainers Institute will focus on core curriculum resources available at TechEL and models for redelivering the content to teachers at the district or school level. Participants will receive hands on learning using Inspiration, Photo Story 3, and Movie Maker software, and will create instructional materials for English Learner students. Tips on how to use iPhoto and iMovie will also be shared. Participants will leave with a toolkit of resources, strategies, and knowledge of how to effectively support English Learners with technology.
All participants will receive a copy of Inspiration 8, the book
Classroom Instruction that Works for English Language Learners,
and a trainer account to Curriculum Companion.

iTELL Teacher Training - Integrating Technology for English Learners

The iTELL project teaches the effective use of technology tools to implement research based strategies in support of English Learners. These strategies have been shown to improve teaching and enhance learning for EL students.
This workshop encompasses three days of face-to-face training and an additional online component. Teachers will learn strategies for supporting English Learners with their adopted curriculum while using software based graphic organizational tools, free online resources, digital storytelling techniques, and interactive technologies.
During the iTELL training, participants will create technology-enhanced products that can
immediately be used in the classroom. The products will include: a collection of images and
online resources to support a unit or lesson, a graphic content dictionary to enhance academic
vocabulary acquisition, and a multi-media project.

Creating Effective Graphic Organizers to Support English Language Learners

supports the use of nonlinguistic representations. Learn where Inspiration software can be used to support

Curriculum Companion offers an extensive library of curriculum resources aligned directly to the activities and lessons in the Open Court, Houghton Mifflin, McDougal Littell, and Holt state adopted curriculum materials in English Language Arts, making it a perfect resource for schools and districts in Program Improvement (PI). In addition, Curriculum Companion offers a number of professional development resources for technology integration into the English Language Arts classroom. The site hosts over 600 narrated multimedia tutorials on popular software and websites, providing that "just in time" support. Independent self-guide Teacher Explorations get teachers started with setting the stage for technology, and online recorded classes provide 24/7 instruction for teachers wanting to learn new skills and software applications. Finally, with a trainer license, districts and schools can use the already developed flexible training modules to deliver professional development on technology integration locally. |
