Library Services
The Sacramento County Office of Education has continued to update its library resources to serve teachers, librarians, schools and districts with:

Contract Schools—For a fee, school library service provides up to 100 books at a time for classrooms, class sets of novels for teachers, and approximately 36 books to the library as part of a yearly paid contract.

Professional Library Collection (PLM)—The PLM is for library personnel, teachers, and administrators. This is a collection of reference resources that will assist in the selection of books and materials to meet curriculum needs, will suggest reading activities, will help plan or remodel libraries, and much more.

Author Symposium—Three special children's authors/illustrators will make local school visits and present additional workshops for adults including parents, teachers, librarians and administrators.

Monthly Professional Development—Intended for library services personnel, these workshops include book mending, choosing databases to support curriculum, library activities that promote reading and many more. Complete offerings are announced each fall.

School Library Planning and Consultation—Free consultation and follow up is offered to assist districts and school plan their libraries and library services.

Textbook Adoption Collection—The State Board of Education adopted texts for K-8 are displayed and located in an area that can be reserved for groups who are considering purchasing or previewing the latest curricula.

Educational Software Collection—A selection of materials aligned to the California State content standards is available for preview on site.

Friendly Assistance—A full time Library Media teacher, Andrea Fiske, and a full time Library Clerk, Monique Shepard, are available to support the resources needs of schools, teachers, librarians and administrators. For more information call (916) 228-2351. The Learning Resources Center at SCOE is open 9:00 a.m.-6:00 p.m., Monday–Friday.
