Statewide Educational Technology Services (SETS)
The California State Legislature authorized three Statewide Education Technology Services projects or SETS. These three projects will provide valuable information to teachers in California.
- CLRN
—California Learning Resource Network—Electronic Learning Resources
Services include:
- Identifying and evaluating electronic learning resources such as software, video, and online resources.
- Identifying learning units or lessons aligned to resources and the state academic content standards.
- Maintaining an interactive web site to provide: information about electronic learning resources through an online searchable database, links to standards based online lessons and to state education technology projects and resources.
- TICAL
—Technology Information Center for Administrative Leadership—Professional Development for District and Site Administrators
Services include:
- Developing and implementing a system for administrator professional development that would provide district and site administrators with training focused on the leadership of "digital schools."
- Establishing and maintaining a system for disseminating information regarding the professional development available as a result of this service.
- TechSETS
—Supporting California School Technologists—Professional Development and Resources for Technology Support Staff
Services include:
- Identifying existing professional development for technology support staff and negotiating reduced participation fees
- Identifying existing gaps in access to appropriate professional development for technology support staff and providing solutions for filling those gaps
- Collecting networking and technical support tools and resources
- Establishing and maintaining a system for dissemination of tools and resources as well as professional development for technology support staff.
